Akira Aoki has been named to the ASTM Board of Directors. The executive advisor on International Affairs at the Japanese Standards Association (JSA), Aoki is a board member of the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee (JISC) and chairman of the JISC Council for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and chairman for JISC's ISO/IEC joint working group for developing countries' issues. He also is a former chairman of the JISC Council for International Affairs.
